Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

The sanctuary was established in 2005 with the primary objective of reintroducing white rhinos to Uganda after they were declared extinct in the country in the early 1980s due to poaching.

The sanctuary is now home to a growing population of 32 southern white rhinos, including seven calves that were born in the sanctuary. The rhinos are monitored and protected 24/7 by a team of highly skilled rangers and trackers to ensure their safety and well-being.

In addition to rhinos, the sanctuary is also home to over 40 different bird species, various antelopes, and other wildlife. Visitors can take a guided walking tour of the sanctuary, where they can learn about the rhinos, their habitat, and the conservation efforts being made to protect them.
